Hello everyone and welcome back to the your Enneagram Friend podcast, which is soon to be transitioned to Uniquely you Enneagram and Real Life, but more about that in a minute. I'm Wendy Busby, your very own life and relationship coach, and I'm so thrilled that you're tuning in today. So, whether you're listening on your morning walk, during your commute or maybe as you wind down for the day, I really want to make these next let's say, oh, probably six or seven minutes or so worth your time. So today's episode is a bit special. It's really meant to be a heart-to-heart chat about some exciting life updates and some changes that are coming up that I think are really going to inspire and encourage you. So I want to start by talking about the learning journey that I've been on this year so far.
Speaker 1:On the first Saturday of the month through 2025, I'm spending the whole day in an online conference hosted by Adam Young and his invited guest whoever the invited guest he is for that particular month, and it's been so incredible. I've learned so much so far. In January, the topic was the neuroscience of healing with Dr Kurt Thompson, and Dr Kurt Thompson is someone that I followed for many years. I've read all of his books. I mean it was such an incredible day to spend eight hours just learning and listening to him share his wisdom from the neuroscience perspective on the effects on the body and the brain, and all of that. February's topic was equally as good. The title of it was From my Life is an Endless Struggle to my Life is a Compelling Story with Rob Bell, and in March we explored the title was Engaging the Story that your Body is Telling you with Hilary McBride, and if you've ever heard Hilary McBride speak about anything, she is just fabulous. And so I am working on compiling some of my highlights and notes from those particular conferences and I'm going to share them in some of my upcoming episodes with you. So keep a lookout for that. Let's see.
Speaker 1:On a more personal note, josh and I have, let's say, fully transitioned to being empty nesters and honestly, it's been more of a challenge than we anticipated. You know, suddenly the house is quieter and cooking for two is way harder than I thought it would be, but you know we're embracing it with openness and curiosity and that has really helped. What we found is a couple of months into our transition time of that. You know what are we doing here. We found ourselves really getting into the routine of watching too much TV and not really connecting in the ways that we value, which is spending quality time together, going out and doing fun things. And so we made a commitment like let's just, let's break this pattern that we're in, let's sit down and talk to one another about what's happened throughout our day, our thoughts, our worries, our opinions and for me, of course, it's lots of talk about how I'm feeling and we do this for 20 to 30 minutes in the evening and, honestly, we find ourselves spending much longer than that most of the time.
Speaker 1:So I guess what I'm trying to share with you is that it's a really valuable practice to evaluate your relationship from time to time and really ask yourself what's working in our relationship, what's not working, and set aside time to talk about how you're experiencing one another. That's such a valuable thing to communicate how you're experiencing one another and listening and receiving the information without getting defensive. It's hard sometimes, right, because we don't always want to hear what the other person has to say about how they're experiencing us, but it's a really, really powerful gift that we can give our most important relationships. So, anyways, yeah, on another note, our family sorry, excuse me, our family's expanding. Our youngest son got engaged and is going to marry his high school sweetheart this September. We're so thrilled. We just love seeing their two tender hearts together and watching them move and go off and do the things that they're going to do and explore life together. Our bonus daughter welcomed twins into the world recently, and so we're overwhelmed and just thrilled, full of so much joy and gratitude for how our family is expanding and can't wait to go spend some time with those babies.
Speaker 1:But, um, yeah, having a really strong and connected family has been a prayer of mine for a really long time. It's something that I desire deeply and I, just as I step back and kind of look at how our family is developing and expanding and as our kids get older and bring people into the family with them that they're going to make a life with, I just love it. It makes me feel happy and content to have a deep and connected family and we have a pretty active family chat, so that keeps me entertained. I think it keeps all of us entertained. But the kids they're always sharing, whatever it is they're doing, their antics, memes and pictures, and so it's fun to just see them. Also, it's fun to see them supporting one another too and encouraging them with all the adventures and the endeavors that they're out there doing. It feels in many ways like we're spread all over the place, but yet really connected at the same time, and that's a really cool feeling.
Speaker 1:All right, so now let me talk about my business update. I've been on a journey to rebrand and kind of refine my niche in the coaching world, and so I took a step back. I looked at my business, from my social media to my website, to my podcast, to all my digital products and I realized that everything was a bit disjointed. I didn't have consistent colors or fonts or really the messaging, and the biggest aha of them all was that I wasn't really doing much to show people that I'm a coach, that that's actually my business is that I'm a life and relationship coach, and what I love to do is working.
Speaker 1:I love to work with individuals and couples and seeing people's lives change because of the intention that they put into the process of personal growth this thing that you might have heard me call, or other people call, inner work. Like what does that even mean, inner work? Well, it means taking some time to look inside at what's going on with you and then going from there learning about who you uniquely are, how you uniquely process the world, how you uniquely communicate and understand how others are communicating with you. It's been so life-changing and transformative for my clients. I just want to do it more and more and more.
Speaker 1:Every time I sit down with a client, I feel honored. I feel honored to hold space for them, to guide them, but really the work that they're doing is theirs. They're the ones doing it and I'm just, I'm just honored to be the guide, to be next to them, and I believe that honestly. I believe that God has gifted me to sit with people, to sit with them in the hard things and give them space to process their life experiences and, more importantly, to offer hope. Offer hope for moving forward with more confidence, more freedom, more flexibility, more vitality, because what I've found is that what people really want is they want a life that feels good to them, they want relationships that feel good, that feel safe, and I'm just honored to be a part of that. So that's partly why I wanted to do this update, because I'm transitioning the name of this podcast, so it's no longer going to be your Enneagram friend. That's been, um, it served its time and it's time for me to wrap that part up.
Speaker 1:And so, moving forward, this podcast that you're listening to right now is going to be called Uniquely you, and then the little subtitle on that's going to be Enneagram and Real Life. So Uniquely you, enneagram and Real Life. And what this does this new title it really it better reflects the blend of Enneagram wisdom and real life stories that I want to explore, because I found that I love talking about the Enneagram and I could talk about it all day long. But there's also, as I'm getting out there and I'm meeting more people, even meeting other coaches and other experts in their field at conferences and Instagram and I'm like, wow, I want to have them on my podcast and I want to have them on my podcast, and while it's not Enneagram specific, what they have to share is super valuable. And so, again, this new title, it just reflects that better, the blend of content that I want to bring to you, experiences that I want to bring to you. Be looking out for that change.
Speaker 1:This will be the last podcast that I'm going to publish under your Enneagram friend, and then the next podcast that I publish is one that I've already recorded and you are going to love it. I am interviewing my friend that I met on Instagram. She's a personality and relationship psychologist from Australia and I just I can't wait for you guys to meet her. Her name's Tracy, and so I'm going to publish that one shortly, so be looking out for that, but it's going to be under the title Uniquely you Enneagram in Real Life. I'm planning on covering things like midlife transition, parenting, adult children, wellness, navigating menopause that big thing that many of us are doing Well, many of my peers are doing navigating menopause, self-care and just so much more. So, yes, you're still going to get tons of Enneagram insights and awesome teaching, but you're going to get so much more, so I hope you'll stay tuned in and join me on this journey. If there's a specific topic you'd like to hear about, or if you just want to reach out, my inbox is always open. Speaker 1:All right, so before I leave you today, I want to leave you with a quote, and the quote is every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. Let me just say it one more time Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. And just perfectly captures where I am right now. It's a reminder that change is a natural and necessary part of life, and I'm really excited for this new beginning. Thanks for sharing some of your time with me today. I'll see you all soon. Take care Bye, thank you.
